An FFU (Fan Filter Unit) is a modular air purification device that integrates a fan and a filter, designed to supply clean air to cleanrooms and serve as a critical component in maintaining high-cleanliness environments.
The FFU draws in air through its built-in fan, filters it through a high-efficiency filter (such as HEPA or ULPA), and then delivers the purified air at a uniform velocity (typically 0.45 m/s ±20%) to create a vertical unidirectional airflow, effectively removing airborne particles. Its modular design allows for flexible installation, replacement, and expansion, minimizing disruption to production operations.
FFUs are widely used in industries such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, and food, particularly in areas requiring local cleanliness levels of Class 100 or higher (e.g., production lines, clean booths). In electronic cleanroom facilities, they are often part of an HVAC system that includes a makeup air unit (MAU) and a dry cooling coil (DC) to control humidity, temperature, and cleanliness separately.
